Sandwip, segregated from the main land of Bangladesh, affected immensely by the erosion of the Meghna and frequently visited by severe natural calamities, is an wonderful island having a population of more than three lakh. This “ daughter of river “ , i.e Sandwip is famous for producing eminent personalities in different fields. Long long ago many reputed Islamic scholars arrived on this beautiful island for preaching and spreading Islam. Though Once it was greatly known for religious education, particularly Islam, There were not many scopes of acquiring modern education. And consequently girls became the worst victims of being deprived of gaining knowledge. In spite of having great eagerness. It was almost impossible for the girls to go from one corner to another of Sandwip to attain their higher education. Realizing the miseries and necessary of education for the students, some great people having immense love for education came forward with a brave heart to established a college in the south of sandwip along with the help of the locals and founded the long cherished college, South Sandwip College in 1994 and those great men who contributed to establishing much-awaited college will be remembered with due and great respect. South Sandwip College started its journey from June,1994 with Business Studies and Humanities followed by Science in the very later year. And it’s a matter of great joy and satisfaction that the degree course has also been included in this college. This college is enriched with peaceful campus, huge library ,dedicated teachers and knowledge thirsty students. Finally , South Sandwip College owe to those who contributed to founding this and seeks every body’s love and help in the day’s to come.

 

Besides academic curriculum, we also make our student skilled in sports, recitation, music, debate and other co-curricular activities.
